I am thankful and blessed for the opportunity to serve Gallatin County and its residents for the
past five years as your commissioner. I have worked hard to adhere to the highest standards of
integrity and accountability in my service to you, the taxpayer and resident of this wonderful
place.
I have always loved and appreciated the opportunity to live here. My roots go way back as I am
a descendent of three generations of hard working Gallatin County farmers and ranchers. My wife,
JoJo, and I have been married 33 years and raised two sons as we farmed and ranched for 25 years
on our ranch north of Belgrade. I graduated from Manhattan High School and also obtained a degree
from MSU. I served nine years on the Gallatin County Planning Board, have been active in local
producer groups, chaired an irrigation canal company for many years, and have been active in my
local church. All of these experiences have guided me as your commissioner these last five years
and will continue to direct me in a new term.
I believe that effectiveness as a County Commissioner
means building relationships, developing trust and making sure we provide a good value to the
public while taking our fiduciary responsibility very seriously. I look forward to another term so
we can sustain the progress Gallatin County has made in recent years and will continue to provide
the fairness, accountability and balanced approach to government that you have received from me in
my current term.
Thank you with warm regards,
Joe Skinner
